Counting days in Saudi Arabia

Most date questions in Saudi working life have a deadline attached: when a notice period ends, the last day to re-enter on a visa, how long until an iqama expires. Getting the count right matters more here than in most places, because two calendars are in play at once.

Two calendars, one deadline

Iqama validity, exit re-entry visas and government deadlines follow the Umm al-Qura Hijri calendar, while contracts, payroll and flights follow the Gregorian one. A Hijri year is about eleven days shorter, so the two drift apart steadily. This tool shows both for every date so you can see the real gap.

Inclusive or exclusive?

The difference between two dates counts the nights between them: 1 March to 31 March is thirty days, not thirty-one. When you are counting days of leave — where both the first and last day are days off — use the leave planner instead, which counts inclusively.

Leap years are handled

Every fourth February has an extra day, and the calculator accounts for it. Over a long service period this genuinely matters: eight years of service contains two extra days that a naive multiplication would miss.
